Reunion Pricing and Registration • September 13, 2008
We have worked hard to strike a compromise between doing something very nice, and keeping our event reasonably priced. A local prize-winning caterer, Bon Vivant (hired for many Duke events), will provide heavy hors-d'oeuvres, including meats and vegetables. Carolina Theatre will provide ample tables.
For the food, renting the space, hiring a DJ and a bartender, and overhead like postage, the price is $45/person, with a twist. This price is cutting it close for breaking even. (Five years ago, I lost a substantial sum on our reunion.) If you are able, you are encouraged to register for $55/person, or more.
Saturday lunch, 12-2 p.m., Jordan High School cafeteria, Bullocks BBQ -- BBQ, fried chicken, three sides, tea, and lemonade. This is $12.50 per adult, $5 per child ages 12 and up, $3 per child ages 6-11, and free for children 5 and under.
Saturday night, 6:30 p.m.- 1 a.m., Carolina Theatre ballroom and balcony room. Music, dancing, and a cash bar after dinner.
Please make every effort to register in advance. Indicate how many are attending Saturday night (at the Carolina Inn), how many Saturday lunch, and send a check to "Jordan High Class of '88", c/o Kitty Simons Eller, 15 Orchard Grass Ct., Greensboro, NC 27410.
Reunion lodging
We have a verbal block reservation at the Durham Marriott, right next to our reunion at the Carolina Theatre. (No driving home required!) Those rooms cost $119/night, plus about $15 tax, but you should request their best rate, which now appears to be $104 a night. They are under-booked for both nights, Sep. 12 and Sep. 13. If they give you any trouble, push them for the $104 rate, which other callers have received. Phone: 919-768-6000.
